 china's roads, a symbol of china's failures.

one of the biggest, and most obvious failures of china is its roadways. in order to please their western masters, china decided to import millions of cars, millions more than they could handle. the problem is, china's roads, and infrastructure is not designed for an automobile society. china is not america. americans live in the suburbs and are spread out, where driving is suitable. however, china's ruling class encourages its citizens to live in cities. this has led to overcrowded cities, unsuitable for driving. on top of the overcrowded conditions of the cities, the roads are too narrow. while china has many more people than the west, chinese roads are no wider than western roads. often times, chinese roads have even less lanes than western roads. this leads to congestion, and accidents, something the chinese authorities don't seem very concerned about. cars share roads with pedestrians, because some streets don't have side walks. this makes for very dangerous walking, where pedestrians are vulnerable to being hit by cars. china also lacks parking lots. most of the time, chinese cars are parked onto side walks. this is in sharp contrast to the vast parking lots of america. because of the lack of parking facilities, chinese cars frequently park on sidewalks, making it inconvenient for pedestrians. cars are frequently seen blocking entry ways. chinese cars also frequently park and stop illegally due to the limited infrastructure, leading to accidents, unecesary deaths, and injury.

china also lacks the ability to enforce traffic rules. almost no one gets pulled over by cops. on the other hand, western motorists are frequently pulled over by cops. this means that chinese motorists can break all the rules and suffer little to no consequences. you are unlikely to see chinese motorists penalized for not stopping for pedestrians, or not signaling for lane changes. on the other hand, american cops frequently hand out tickets for these offenses. china has gone about the whole situation wrongly. in response to the horrible chinese driving, authorities have made driving tests very hard, but this doesnt solve anything. in fact, the west has tried this. in cities, or states where drivers are bad, authorities have made tests hard, but this didn't solve anything either. motorists simply follow all the rules while they take their test, and once the test is over, they go back to driving like savages. police enforcement is much more effective than hard tests. you want people to stop driving like savages, then pull them over, ticket them. if they dont pay the ticket, lock them up.

but china isnt having it. china protects rich people. china's capitalist world view also means that cops are not inclined to go after the bourgeoisie, and most chinese motorists belong to the bourgeoisie class because it is very expensive to drive in china. if the average car costs $15,000, then the average american has to work less than half a year to buy a car, whereas, an average chinese would have to work close to 3 years to buy the same car if we assume a chinese makes $5000 a year. either china should redesign their cities to suit driving, or stop selling so many cars. having both will only continue the chaos.
